Our week out west was fantastic! The pictures are in the uploading process. In the meantime, I thought I would share how wonderful the food was out there. I know I talk about food a lot on my blog, but I love to eat!
We started the weekend with dinner at McKenna's at the Long Beach marina. My cousin manages this restaurant, so it was nice to enjoy a fantastic meal with the sun setting behind us. http://www.mckennasonthebay.com/
After we left Long Beach, we headed up the Pacific Coast Highway to Pacific Grove, CA. There we are at Passion Fish, which came highly recommended by Katherine and RC and Town. http://www.passionfish.net/ Our meal at Passion Fish was wonderful! Pete and I were both wiped from the 7 hour trip through fog and rock slides but still thoroughly enjoyed our meals.
From Pacific Grove, we went to San Francisco to meet Rob and Kelly. We ate at Hog Island Oyster company. Talk about clam chowder! WOW! I don't think that will ever be matched.

Once we were in Napa, we ate and drank at Bounty Hunter two nights in a row. The food and wine were both so good! Check out the remnants of this barbecue plate.

The picture hardly does it justice. Bounty Hunter also makes and sells their own wines. My favorite? The 2005 Waypoint "Beckstoffer, Dr. Crane," Cabernet. Of course I loved it, it is $90.00 a bottle. Pete had to take away my credit card to keep me from buying a bottle.
And last but not least, we ate at Ad Hoc in Yountville, aka Youngkenville. Ad Hoc was everything you think it would be and more. The menu was perfect for all of us. The starter was a watercress, beet, and hens egg salad. The main course was a hickory smoked rib eye with fingerling potatoes. The third course was a goat cheese gouda (yes I ate and loved this cheese). Finally banana split for desert with homemade blueberry ice cream. We were all VERY satisfied when we left there. RC has the pictures from Ad Hoc. We didn't want to be the guy walking around photographing the entire restaurant.
