We spent NYE in Wytheville with Tom, JoAnn, Craig, Kirstie, Pam, Katherine, Anna, Tommy, Ben, Flynn, Rob, and Kelly + Ripley(dog), Annie(dog), Sally(dog), Mac(dog), Scout(dog), Belle(dog), Jackie(dog) and Dean(dog). Yes, you did count that right- there were 8 dogs- 5 of which were toonts. In case you don't remember a toont is a miniature dachshund. Imagine what our gatherings will look like once we add babies into the mix.

In all seriousness, we had a fantastic time! So good that I want to go back tomorrow. Craig and Kirstie continue to pamper us with comfy beds, excellent food, and great company every time we visit. Thanks Smiths!! Just to make your mouth water the menu items were as follows: cabbage and sausage onion soup, delicious Christmas cookies, Veal Marsala, asparagus salad, meringues with peppermint ice cream, steamed oysters (fresh from South Carolina thanks to Pam), fried shrimp, tempura veggies, seafood chowder, and butternut squash soup. Clearly we did not eat all of this in one night but we did eat it all in three. Breakfast on New Year's day was Pam's fabulous shrimp grits. I should probably not mention that I missed these due to too much of the RED champagne the night before. I am positive they were delicious. We are so lucky to be able to spend time with these wonderful people- we love you all!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
