Photography Class

Pete was nice enough to get me a new camera last year. I love the camera but had no idea how to use it. SO, I signed up for a photography class in January. The class has been interesting, but I felt that I would never remember everything I was learning. Everything changed for me this week. We went downtown on Tuesday night to shoot the capital from across the reflecting pool. Sounds like a piece of cake unless you have ever tried to shoot at night with no flash from FAR FAR away. Needless to say, I learned how to work with my shutter priority setting and got some great shots. Here are a few.

Both shots are from the ledge of the reflecting pool as I did not have a tripod with me. The first shot is with a 2.5second shutter opening and the second with a 1/2 second shutter opening. Both shots are done without a flash. I love both of the shots for different reasons. The first really shows the red in the sky, and the capital is really crisp in the second shot.
It's amazing what you can do with these cameras.
