Pete and I set out with a plan yesterday: go to Costco to pick up Christmas cards, go to Target to purchase The Hangover, go to Wendy's to pick up lunch. We were prepared for the worst. We have an emergency kit, shovel and blankets in the jeep. We also had a full tank of gas. I often complain about moving the shovel around, but this is the second time that shovel has dug out a jeep- first Genie, now Genny. The jeep did a fantastic job in the show. We were actually amazed that we did not get stuck during the day. She made it up the steep inclines of RC and Town's neighborhood and even over snow banks that the plows left behind. She did get stuck late night- the curb we were parked next to is what got her. However, after a little shoveling- Pete and RC got her out. It was definitely a winter wonderland. Here is a glimpse of our trip in pictures.
Pre snow brush jeep- already in four wheel drive from the night before
Getting out of the neighborhood. I still don't think the streets have been plowed.
Spout Run leading down to GW Parkway
GW was so bad that we could not see any exits therefore took the wrong 395- the one that took us to DC instead of Pentagon Row. We had to watch this guy fishtail for a solid 10 minutes. Real wheel drive plus two feet of snow= bad idea!
SERIOUSLY??!!!
Luckily we made it to Target and back home again.
This is a shot of RC, Pete, Rip and Belle heading all the way back up Manchester to the jeep. We had to park up the street because their entire neighborhood had two feet of snow. About 10 minutes after this was taken the jeep turned sideways and got stuck. Pete and RC had to dig her out with the help of some snow shovels offered by their neighbors at midnight. It took 4 Low to get her out- that's a lot of snow!! I took the dogs back down to the house and by the time I got there I saw the headlights pointing downhill. I knew then that we were headed in the right direction.
